Large-scale Russian Assaults Cut Electricity Throughout Kyiv

Power facilities targeted in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have faced escalating strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to blackouts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while residents in the city's east were experienced blackouts and faced problems to water supplies, per reports from municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, as reported by area administrators.

Moscow has increased attacks on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while the country's government has requested "substantial measures" from international partners to increase pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the US, European nations and the Group of Seven - in supplying defensive weapons and implementing penalties," he wrote in a social media post.

He said that 450 drones and several dozen rockets struck energy facilities, labeling such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were striving to restore power.

A series of attacks struck energy infrastructure and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Multiple people hurt in the attacks on the capital have been hospitalized, per statements from city authorities.

Local officials said the metropolitan region endured intense attacks during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child lost their life and multiple civilians were wounded.

The assaults come after evenings of bombing campaigns in the area, portions of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The entire country is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to spot.

National leaders told journalists that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already affecting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and government agencies were bracing for further attacks.
