Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Police then found numerous other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials stated they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have requested to the community for tips.
A high-ranking representative stated the attack rendered him stunned and had to be solved promptly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on online, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
